ss space space is an artist-led experimental space with specific research on notions of space. Collectively and critically, we explore diverse aspects of art by proposing questions and experiments and inviting multiple triggers for reflection. The physical space of ss space space, which opened in mid-2023, spans 150 square metres and is located on the ground floor in New Taipei City's Bali neighbourhood. It serves as a venue for both gallery- and curator-led exhibitions, showcasing contemporary artists from around the world. The space also features a reading area displaying artists' books, selected publications, and artist-made objects. This year's annual open call is specifically for the reading area. We are seeking submissions of '𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨' 𝙤𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨' and '𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨' 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨', all handmade by creatives. We are excited about the prospect of collecting and curating items from artists, as it not only enriches our space but also opens up new possibilities for discovery.
Last year, our inaugural call for submissions drew over 60 creators from across the world, infusing the space with creative vigour and offering visitors the chance to explore a wide array of artistic forms. Starting this year, the reading area will unveil a fresh project, and through a series of events and collaborations, we aim to unearth further artistic possibilities with creatives, curating a boutique of art selections!
ss space space 是一個由藝術家主導的實驗空間，也是一個以「空間」為題的研究團隊。我們期望在不斷地提問與實驗之中，探索藝術可能存在的樣貌，並同時藉此反思與回應當前社會面臨之議題。自2020年起，ss space space 以社會性與公共性的參與實踐為目標，邀請大眾、藝術家與其他專業領域工作者共同實驗與交流。於2023年間，ss space space在新北市八里成立實體空間，空間內設有展演區域與閱覽區域。此次募集計畫為針對空間中的閱覽區域所舉辦。入選作品將其陳列於閱覽區域中，並開放販售。透過年度徵件，我們期待徵集由國內外藝術工作者製作之藝術家物件與藝術家書籍，並經由常態的展示與編輯，激發更多創作的對話空間。
去年第一期徵件我們募集了超過60位來自世界各國的創作者的作品，為空間注入許多創作活力，也讓來訪的觀眾探索更多元豐富的藝術形式。今年開始，閱讀區將以全新企劃登場，並透過更多活動企劃與合作形式，與創作者一起發掘更多藝術選品的可能，敬請期待！

Are Looking For?

Objects that are made by artists. Objects can include but are not limited to ceramics, sculptures, tableware, textiles, prints, goldsmith’s work and other handmade crafts.
Artists' Books
Books that are made and/or published by artists. Books can include but are not limited to zines, photo books, illustrations, poems, novels, experimental texts and other formats.

藝術家書籍

Project Duration

All accepted artwork, including artists' books and artists' objects, will be displayed and be for sale in ss space space's reading area until 22 June 2025. After that time, the artwork may remain on display and for sale until 31 December 2025 if the applicant and ss space space jointly agree to such an extension.
本計畫所徵選之書籍與物件將於ss space space閱覽區域中展示與販售，並將陳列至2025年6月22日。
待計畫期程結束後，若入選者有意願將其投件之作品繼續陳列於本空間中，經雙方同意，作品可寄賣至2025年12月31日。

1.
Please download the application form below. After completing the application, you can submit it to soupasoupamarket@gmail.com. We will send a confirmation within three working days of receipt of your application.
2.
Please complete the application either in English or Mandarin. If possible, we kindly ask applicants to complete the application in both Mandarin and English. Otherwise, we will translate any essential material to the best of our ability.
3.
We will review applications on an ongoing basis, and the results of the open call will be available from 10 June 2024 via email.

Notes
募 集 說 明
1.
The cost of delivering the artworks to New Taipei City and the exhibition space is the responsibility of the artist, along with any insurance. If the artworks remain unsold, ss space space will both arrange and pay for the return of artworks to the address the applicant provides. If applicants withdraw their artwork during the project, they will be responsible for the return shipping cost.
2.
The open call for artists' objects and artists' books seeks both unique works and works created in editions. Artists may offer up to three editions of each work for sale.
3.
Accepted artworks will be displayed and available for sale in ss space space's reading area. If necessary, layouts will be adjusted to accommodate current exhibitions.
4.
Applicants agree that all accepted artworks will be considered for inclusion in any relevant events such as art book fairs, booths, online stores, etc. on behalf of ss space space.
5.
After tax is deducted, ss space space will retain a 40% commission on sales, and the artist will receive 60% of the sale. We offer payment through bank transfers for applicants who have bank accounts in Taiwan or the UK. We can pay via Paypal, too. (Please note that transaction fees will be applied.)
6.
All selected work should be delivered to our project space by 22 June 2024.

申請者將負責寄送作品至指定地點之運費，而待計畫期程結束後作品若無售出，將由我們負擔回程運費至原寄送地址。若於計畫期間申請者因故需回收作品則由申請者自行負擔運費。
2.
此次募集之藝術家物件與書籍無論單獨版數或多版數之創作皆可申請，每件作品寄賣上限為三個版次，亦即同一作品至多可寄賣三件。
3.
入選之作品將由我們負責於閱覽區域中陳列與銷售。為搭配當期展覽內容，陳列方式將不定期做調整。
4.
申請者將同意入選之作品由ss space space名義參與相關藝術家書展、市集、博覽會、線上商店等活動。
5.
寄賣之作品售出後我們將扣除相關稅務，並支付創作者六成之款項。申請人若有臺灣或英國銀行帳戶我們將以轉帳方式提供款項，其他國家則以支付平台Paypal線上匯款。（轉帳過程若有衍生之轉帳費用或平台手續費將從售出款項中扣除）
6.
入選者需於2024年6月22日前將作品寄至指定地址。
